The Primary Program
Primary Program Directresses — Mrs. Yost, Mrs. Luzuriaga and Mrs. Burke
The Montessori School of Westminster is very fortunate to have three Primary directresses with a combined total of 63 years experience in Montessori education.
Miwon Yost received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Ehwa Women’s University in Seoul, Korea, and her Montessori Certification from AERCO in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She joined the Primary program as a directress in 1985.
Nancy Luzuriaga earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Towson University. She also received her Montessori Certification from AERCO. She became a directress in the Primary program in 1986.
Su Burke graduated from the University of Maryland with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Fine Arts and Art Education. She completed her Montessori Certification at the Center for Montessori Studies in Lutherville, Maryland. Su joined the staff in 1990 and became a Primary directress in 1996.
Primary Program Aides — Mrs. Donaldson, Ms. Campbell
The Primary aides bring over 30 years combined Montessori experience to the Primary classrooms. Linda Donaldson joined the staff in 1990. She has been Mrs. Yost’s aide since 1991. Kathy Campbell first joined the staff at the Montessori School of Westminster in 1997. She became Mrs. Luzuriaga’s aide 10 years ago.
Lower Elementary Program
Lower Elementary Directresses — Mrs. Bodden, Ms. Quinn and Ms. Welsh
There are three directresses in the Montessori School of Westminster’s Lower Elementary program with over 20 years combined experience.
Amanda Bodden completed her undergraduate education at Western Maryland College with degrees in Art, Elementary Education and Psychology. She taught for three years in the Carroll County Public School System. Amanda became a directress in Lower Elementary program in 1998.
Tres Quinn received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Math Education degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught junior and senior high school math in Pittsburgh and Towson. Tres joined the staff of the Montessori School of Westminster in 2002 as Mrs. Burke’s Primary aide and is now a directress in Lower Elementary.
Lauren Welsh first came to the school as a student in Primary program and stayed through the Lower Elementary program. She graduated from Juniata College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Education. Lauren then joined the staff in 2007 as a Lower Elementary directress. Amanda, Tres, and Lauren all took their Montessori Elementary 1 Certification training at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies.
Upper Elementary Program — Mrs. Malcolm
Gretchen Malcolm has been involved in Montessori education for 23 years. She joined the staff of the Montessori School of Westminster in 2001. Gretchen graduated from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland, with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She later received her Master’s degree in Curriculum Development from Cleveland State University. Gretchen received her Montessori Certification from Cleveland Montessori Institute in Cleveland Ohio.
Middle School
Middle School Directress — Lisa Rill
School Aides — Mrs. Strine and Mrs. Herbst
Dawn Strine first joined the staff at the Montessori School of Westminster in 1994. Libby Herbst has been with the Montessori School of Westminster since 1991. Their longevity here at the school has provided them with Montessori experience in Primary, Lower, Upper and Middle School.
Primary Napping Program
Staff Member — Mrs. Jersild
Kim Jersild is the senior staff member in the Primary napping program. She joined the Montessori School of Westminster in 2000. Kim has also been an aide in Lower Elementary and Middle School.
